Find out where there will be local road closures ahead of Sunday’s marathon – Citrus Heights Sentinel

Several major road closures will be in effect in Citrus Heights during the upcoming annual California International Marathon, scheduled to take place this Sunday, December 8th.

According to a list posted on the Sacramento Running Association website, several intersections and streets will be closed at certain times during the marathon event. Below is a list of closures impacting Citrus Heights.

• Oak Avenue from Kenneth Avenue (Mile 5) to Fair Oaks Boulevard will be closed from 6:55 a.m. until at least 8:45 a.m
• Fair Oaks Boulevard will be closed from Oak Avenue (Mile 6) south to Madison Avenue from at least 6:50 a.m. to between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. This also applies to the intersections of Greenback Lane and Madison Avenue (between Mile 7 and Mile 8).

The Marathon Road closures will also impact major roads and intersections from Folsom to downtown Sacramento, including Folsom-Auburn Road, J Street, L Street and Capitol Mall.

Officials confirmed to The Sentinel Tuesday that the traffic stop is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol.

The Sacramento Running Association notes online that the list of exact finish times is based on a pace of 3 minutes per mile for the first runners and about 13:44 minutes per mile for the slowest runners.
