Whether you’re at home or on the go, the North Pole is just a click away. Don’t miss the opportunity to share the joy of Santa’s journey with your loved ones on Christmas Eve.

The origins of NORAD’s Track Santa date back to 1955, when a young girl accidentally called the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center in Colorado Springs hoping to speak with Santa Claus after seeing an ad in her local newspaper. Air Force Colonel Harry Shoup, the commander who answered the call, assured her that Santa would arrive safely on Christmas. This harmless mistake started a tradition that NORAD adopted after its founding in 1958.

Thanks to the Internet, millions of people can now track Santa’s whereabouts as NORAD activates its radars on Christmas Eve. NORAD’s website provides comprehensive information about NORAD, the North Pole, details on tracking Santa Claus, and more.

As NORAD officially begins tracking Santa Claus as he takes to the skies on Christmas Eve, the organization’s website and NORAD Tracks Santa phone number, 1-877-HI-NORAD (1-877-446-6723), provide Real-time updates. According to Lt. Sean Carter, NORAD Tracks Santa program manager, said the call center fielded over 53,000 calls during its 23-hour operation last year.
