Forget Samsung S25 Edge - this leaked picture supposedly shows the iPhone 17 Air

We only saw yesterday that the Galaxy S25 Edge was literally confirmed, but Cupertino reports reportedly on a similar iPhone 17 Air model, which, according to rumors, could be up to 5.5 mm thick. Thanks to a leaker named Maijin Bu, an alleged picture of what could be the shell of this device is now on X.

The picture shows a few iPhone covers that lie down with the front, so we cannot say with certainty how thick they could be. But there is another very large rumor about the next Apple cell phones in which this picture plays a role.

As early as December, there were rumors that Apple could change the design of the slim iPhone and, from a pill-shaped camera huck, become a horizontal bar in the Google Pixel style. A look at this alleged iPhone 17 covers gives you an idea of how that could look.

There were rumors about the addition of a camera bar for both the iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro, so it is not immediately clear which of these models is supposedly shown here. On closer inspection of the image, however, you can see a circular neckline on the left side, which could be for a single-back camera with the LED flash positioned on the right. Since the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be delivered only with a single back camera, it is obvious that this is the model shown here.

Of course, this is ultimately only an internet leak-the entire picture could simply be a fake. And although I hardly consider this more than speculation, it is worth mentioning that Maijun Bu has correctly released the name “Desert Titanium” for the iPhone 16 Pro series before the publication.

So take this blurry image with a decent pinch of salt, although on the claim of the Leaker Jukanlosreve on December it builds up that you would have seen an iPhone 17 Air frame from a Chinese supply chain report. This leak also showed a horizontal camera bar, but it was difficult to determine whether it was an actual photo or just a rendering.

2025: year of the slim phone?

At the end of yesterday’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung surprised us at the last minute with the announcement of the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge-a super-slender smartphone that could only be 6.4 mm thin. Samsung has not announced any specifications for the phone at the event, but Samsung not only offers an alternative to the 8.2 mm thick Galaxy S25 Ultra, but may also have an eye on what Apple is working on.

Will Apple Google’s model take over and equip the iPhone 17 Air with a camera bar? This is difficult to say at the moment. This gives the iPhone the largest external design change in years, but if the iPhone 17 Air is probably as thin as predicted (Mark Gurman recently reported that it could be about 2 mm thinner than current iPhones), then it could make sense.

If you distribute the camera components over a bar, you are less out of the question than through a concentrated survey, which leads to an overall thinner handset. If you prefer to use the device without a housing, it can even become more stable if it is placed on the front of the front on a flat surface.
