Former Georgia Representative of the Year Caught Drunk Driving After Bizarrely Directing Traffic With No Cars Around: Documents

A Georgia police officer who once won the Representative of the Year award was charged with drunken driving this month after he allegedly tried to direct traffic on a road where there were no cars, authorities said .

Houston County Sheriff’s Deputy Garrison Page found himself on the other end of the law on Nov. 19 when an open can of Mike’s Hard Lemonade was reportedly discovered in his patrol car outside an elementary school, where he was behaving bizarrely, according to police documents local outlets.

According to WMGT, authorities were first called to Skyview Elementary School after witnesses saw Page unsafely directing traffic in plain clothes around 9 a.m., an incident report said.

Page reportedly had slurred speech and reeked of alcohol while his patrol car was also at the scene.

“Upon becoming aware of my presence, Page immediately moved away from the scene and entered the oncoming turn lane of the roadway,” a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy wrote.

A county education department official who interacted with Page for the first time said the officer was directing traffic in an area with no traffic flow and was drunk, the incident report said.

When another education department official asked if Page needed medical attention, he responded, “It’s none of your business,” according to the incident report.

While working for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, Page was named “Deputy of the Year.”

Page’s patrol car reportedly had an unopened can of Natural Light in a black bag on top of the already broken open Mike’s Hard Lemonade.

After his arrest, he allegedly caused trouble for officers when they tried to draw blood from him, WMGT reported.

While working for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, Page was named “Deputy of the Year.” Many community members congratulated him on Facebook on this achievement.

WMAZ reported that he had only worked for Houston County for eight days before the alleged drunk driving incident.

A Houston sheriff’s spokesman told the station that Page had been suspended pending possible termination.
