Former Interior Minister Deb Haaland starts the New Mexico -Gouveerneurkampagne

Former Interior Minister Deb Haaland runs for New Mexico’s governor and wants to be the first Indian woman to be elected governor of a state.

Haaland started her campaign on Tuesday morning in an online video after referring to an announcement in the past few days. In it she supports herself on her biography and opens up the video in which she learned after a childhood to move, to raise her child as a single mother and to work to “35 years of sobriety” that “nothing is easy”, But simply, but the “here in New Mexico makes you violent.”

“When I became New Mexico’s member of the congress and then the leader of the US Ministry of the Interior, I took the opportunity to make changes,” she says.

“But the problems with which we are now confronted are larger than ever, and we have to be violent to solve them. Therefore I know myself for the governor of the Great State New Mexico.”

“New Mexico is rich in tradition and spirit, rich in natural resources. Why can’t our families not pay for our bills? Crime, poverty, homelessness, addiction. “She adds.

The democratic governor Michelle Lujan Grisham does not run for re -election, since the state law obliges governors from the search for a third term in a row and makes Haaland the leaders on the democratic side. Senator Martin Heinrich, another prominent democrat from New Mexico, announced last month that he would stay in the Senate instead of considering a governor’s current.

And while the state has recently chosen the history of the Republicans nationwide – Republican governor Susana Martinez recently served the two term. Former Vice President Kamala Harris won almost 52% of the votes there last autumn, and Lujan Grisham won her re -election of 2022 with practically the same proportion of votes.

Haaland, a member of Laguna Pueblo, was the first cabinet official of American American history in American history when the then President Joe Biden taped her to lead the interior department, which is the second highest person of the American origin in the history of the American government made. (Charles Curtis, who served as Vice President of Herbert Hoover, was a member of the Kaw Tribe.)

Haaland had just won a re -election in her second term in the house when she biddened. Before that, she headed the New Mexico Democratic Party.

No Republican has announced their intention to still seek governorship. But a handful of prominent politicians, including Republicans, who recently lost top -class races such as the hopeful Nella Domenici of the Senate or the former MP Yvette Herrell.

Haaland is the first biden cabinet parallel that is back in electoral policy, although several others could be involved in campaigns in the near future. Former transport secretary Pete Buttigieg is considering running in Michigan for the Senate and could also be a future presidential candidate after running in 2020. Others who could be in the mix for different offices who played shyly when he was asked for a potential 2026 run for the governor there.
