Bob Bryar, the former drummer for My Chemical Romance, has died at the age of 44.

He was found at his home in Tennessee on Tuesday, TMZ initially reported, citing unnamed law enforcement sources. According to the report, he was last seen alive on November 4, over three weeks ago.

The band confirmed Bryar’s death in a statement through a spokesman, the Associated Press reported.

“The band asks for patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s death,” the spokesman said. No details about his death have been released.

He first joined the New Jersey rock band in 2004, replacing drummer Matt Pelissier. Bryar and My Chemical Romance split in 2010.

Bryar was their drummer on the release of The Black Parade, the album widely considered the band’s magnum opus. In 2017, MTV named the song’s music video “Best Video of the Century.”

Next year, My Chemical Romance will embark on a ten-date stadium tour of North America, performing 2006’s The Black Parade in its entirety.

According to the band’s Instagram page, their August 9, 2025 show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford was sold out less than a month after the announcement.

My Chemical Romance was formed in 2001 and released four studio albums throughout their career. They first achieved their breakthrough in 2004 with “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”.

They announced their separation in 2013; a year later they released a greatest hits collection entitled May Death Never Stop You. In 2019, they announced a reunion and later revealed that they had privately reunited two years earlier.
