Former Spartan shows enormous potential in vital area

Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman has been somewhat lost in the fog this season as Josh Allen has spread the ball to a bevy of weapons, limiting Coleman’s targets.

But don’t think for a second that Coleman isn’t making an impact or that he doesn’t show significant future potential.

The former Michigan State Spartans star only recorded 24 catches for 498 yards and three touchdowns prior to Week 17, but he is tremendously outstanding in one area.

Big-play ability.

Coleman is averaging an incredible 20.8 yards per catch, which would actually rank him third in the NFL if he had received enough balls to qualify.

The 21-year-old has only recorded three catches in his last three games (there was a big gap there too). due to an injury), but those three grabs went for 21, 64 and 17 yards.

When Coleman makes a catch, it’s usually huge. Like back on October 20th, For exampleas the Michigan State product caught four balls for 125 yards in a win over the Tennessee Titans.

Coleman battles for scoring with fellow receivers Khalil Shakir, Amari Cooper, Mack Hollins and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox, not to mention running back James Cook.

So you can understand why Coleman’s counting stats might not stand out from the crowd.

But when you watch him, you can definitely see the talent and understand why the Bills selected him in the early second round of the NFL Draft last April.

Coleman began his college career at East Lansing in 2021 and broke out in his sophomore season, catching 58 passes for 798 yards and seven scores.

However, after the 2022 season, Coleman transferred to Florida State, where he caught 50 balls for 658 yards and reached the end zone eleven times. After just one season with the Seminoles, he finally declared for the NFL Draft.

That said, it’s still nice to see Coleman having success at the NFL level, and you kind of get the feeling that we’ll be hearing his name for years to come.
