Forward 45 Elgin public meeting to create a regional transportation plan

ELGIN, Okla. (KSWO) – The Southwest Oklahoma Regional Transportation Planning Organization (SORTPO) is hosting a series of public meetings to discuss the development of the “Forward 45” regional transportation plan.

The Forward 45 RTP is a comprehensive, 20-year strategic initiative designed to guide transportation decisions for all travel modes in southwest Oklahoma.

The plan addresses key issues such as transportation safety, system conditions, accessibility, quality of life and environmental impacts with the goal of creating an integrated and efficient transportation network for Southwest Oklahoma.

The first meeting is scheduled for December 5, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It will be held at the Elgin Community Center, 801 1st Street, Elgin, OK 73538.

At these events, participants learn about the goals and objectives of the Forward 45 RTP, participate in interactive discussions and activities to provide feedback, and participate in question and answer sessions with the SORTPO team.

This is an excellent opportunity for the public to voice their opinions, identify future transportation projects and priorities, and contribute to the strategies that will shape transportation planning for the next two decades.
