Bartlesville native as extras in the FX series by Ethan Hawke

The residents of Bartlesville are already part of the story – literally. Tim Hudson, based in Bartlesville, said he worked on the set for three different days and portrayed a militia member, a dinner and a bar patron.

“I had scenes with Ethan Hawke and Tim Blake Nelson, who also come from Oklahoma,” said Hudson. “I have been in other productions now and know that others were collected for it. It’s cool to see them with locals. I live evidence.”

While the extras are defined by points of action-partly because nobody really knows what’s going on, the excitement is felt.

“I know it’s about a journalist,” added Hudson. “But to be honest, we don’t know much. You could work for five hours and dive for a minute and a half. I can’t wait to look at it and find it out.”

Another resident of Bartlesville, Josh Waddell, also joined the production. He remembered how he had shot a scene in the city center of Tulsa and said the experience was “really fun”.

Waddell laughed when he was asked how close he came.

“Well, I haven’t touched Ethan Hawke,” he said. “But I was sitting in a cabin that was tasted by him and ate breakfast.”

“In the end, they made ad-libs all in character and made jokes. It was very entertaining,” he said.

When asked if he would spoil something, Waddell would not say.

“No,” he said. “You have to see it yourself. But look out for my elbow – it is in the background for four or five seconds.”

Oklahoma continues to roll as Hollywood hotspot

Production combines Harjo and Hawke after the actor’s appearance in Reservation dogswho followed his third and last season in 2023. The FX series received several Emmy nominations and consolidated Harjo’s reputation as a driving force in the indigenous stories rooted in Oklahoma.

With “Killers of the Flower Moon” in 2023 and “Twisters in 2024”, Oklahoma quickly becomes a backdrop for important Hollywood productions.

While the city’s employees continue to check parking inquiries, the residents of Bartlesville scan sidewalks for signs of Hawke – or at least one camera team – while their city is quietly turning into the backdrop for the next large series of FX.
