Gameday 42: Florida Panthers at Utah Hockey Club

Graphic design: Francisco Oporta

The Florida Panthers (24-13-2) face the newly minted Utah Hockey Club (17-15-7) for the first time tonight at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City in front of a national television audience on TNT.

Florida’s recent offensive woes continued Monday night with a 3-1 loss to the red-hot Colorado Avalanche. Carter Verhaeghe was the only Cat to relieve Mackenzie Blackwood, making him the fifth Panther to score in double figures this season. Sergei Bobrovsky got off to a strong start, finishing the game with 31 saves on 33 shots, but once again failed due to the lack of goal support from his clumsy teammates. Florida has scored just four goals in its last three games.

The Clubbers, embarking on an important seven-game homestand, are coming off a hard-fought 3-2 overtime defeat to the Dallas Stars. Since winning four straight games in mid-December, the team formerly known as the Arizona Coyotes has gone just 1-4-2 in their last seven games. Clayton Keller leads the team in assists (25) and scoring with 39 points. Former Panther Kevin Stenlund scored seven goals and 11 points in his first season in the Beehive State.
