Washington – The two-seal men’s basketball team at George Mason University (26-7, 15-3) will play with VCU No. 1 (27-6, 15: 3) in the A-10 championship final on Sunday in the Capital One Arena.

Tip between the patriots and Rams is set for 1 p.m.

The A-10 final on Sunday is broadcast nationally on CBS and Paramount+, with comments by Kevin Harlan, Dan Bonner and AJ Ross. In addition, the Voice of the Patriots Bill Rohland will call the game in the Digital Network Gomason.

• It is George Mason’s first A-10 title game in school history and his first appearance in a conference championship game since the CaA tournament in 2009. GMU recently won a conference tournament in 2008.

• The patriots are 24-4 (.852) in their last 28 games.

• For the first time, George Mason has 15 league and 26 victories in the A-10 history of the program (2013-). It is only the third time at the Annals GMU school has posted more than 26 wins. The other two teams (2005-06, 2010-11) to reach the feat have won at least one game in the NCAA tournament.

• The patriots reached the final with a semi-final victory of 74-64 against Saturday from Saint Joseph. The GMU triggered a school A-10 tournament record 20 assists in victory and shot 51 percent from the ground.

• First team all-a-10 selection Jalen Haynes led the patriots with a team of 22 points (9-15 FG). He also provided a new career high and tied the GMU A-10 championship record with six templates. He achieves an average of 23.0 points in two A-10 tournament competitions.

• All-a-10 third team selection Darius Maddox 19 points were added to SJU and has an average of 15.0 points and shoots 50 percent in his two A-10 tournament games.

• With his third triple vs. Sju band Maddox Coach Skinner on the GMU 3PT FG list ever (125).

• A-10 defensive players of the year Jared Billups is an average of 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals/game in the tournament. His five steals against GW in the quarter-finals set up a new GMU A-10 tournament record.

• Due to two A-10 championship competitions, the patriots shoot 53.8 percent (56-104) out of the ground, 47.1 percent (16-34) from the 3PT range and 81.3 percent (26-32) from the Free Wurfine. The opponents shoot a total of 37.1 percent and 28.8 percent compared to 3.

• George Mason (23rd, 0.956 points/property) and VCU (21st, 0.955 ppp) per sport top 25 defense at the national level. GMU is also fourth in the country in the effective FG defense (.449) and in 2pt defense (.445).

• A-10 coach of the year, Tony Skinn (’06), has a total profit share of 0.708 (46-19) and is 66.7 percent (24-12) in the first two seasons.

• In their last seven competitions, the patriots are 7-0 with five points or less and 3-0 in the last three overtime games.

• The patriots are 21-2 if they shoot 30 percent or better from 3pt in the season.

History against VCU
The game on Sunday marks the 71st all time between Old Caa and current A-10 opponents George Mason and VCU. Mason is 12-16 at home, 9-24 on the street and 1-8 on neutral dishes compared to the RAMS (22-48 in total). The two teams have not met on a neutral soil since the quarter-finals of the 2017 A-10 championship in 2017.

At the beginning of this year, VCU won the only regular season game of 70: 54 in Richmond on February 22. George Mason led 24: 23 in half, but nine sales of the second half through the patriots helped the Rams a 15-0 run, which led between the team at the beginning of the second punch. The Green & Gold ended the game with 14 sales and the Rams held a head start of +11 (20-9) in points from the gymnastics for the competition.

The Patriots held the RAMs to 24 percent (6-25) in the first half, but VCU connected 15 attempts (.517) in the second half and made seven triple during this period. Darius Maddox 12 points and three rebounds, while KD Johnson 12 points and team highs in Assists (3) and Steals (2) added. Jalen Haynes 10 points and eight rebounds added while Woody Newton Eight points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3pt) broken off.

GM shot 35.4 percent for the game and made 5-of-19-3 hands (.263).
