Georgia football and Texas have a chance to make college football history this season

The Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns could make college football history in the 2024 college football season.

Conference championship week has arrived as college football’s regular season comes to a close. One of the most anticipated matchups of title week takes place in the SEC as the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns prepare for their second meeting of the 2024 season.

The Bulldogs defeated the Longhorns in Austin earlier this season after allowing four turnovers to doom the Texas offense. The Horns now have a chance for revenge when they travel to Atlanta for their first-ever SEC Championship game.

While conference championship rematches are a rarity, they do happen. The best example of this is last year’s Pac-12 Championship between Oregon and Washington. The Huskies emerged victorious both times, securing a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Although there have been rematches between two teams over the years, it was not uncommon for two teams to face each other three times in a season. At least not since the ban on leather helmets. However, the Bulldogs and Longhorns could break that trend this season.
