CSI redshirt freshman guard Guerrero and the Golden Eagles defeated Lane Community College (Oregon) 88-78 on Saturday at CSI Gymnasium on the final day of the Wright Physical Therapy Shootout.

Johnson averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in his only season at CSI, helping the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish in the 18th Region.

CSI head coach Jeff Reinert still won’t say whether Guerrero will remain in the starting lineup, but “right now he’s the best (guard),” Reinert told the Times News.

The rotation will likely thin out as the season progresses. The Golden Eagles are in dire straits with rookie Cooper Kesler out for the season with a shoulder injury.

“You’ll see Cooper Kesler next year and he’ll be a diamond,” Reinert said.
