Get ready for the new year with Montgomery Parks’ Winter 2025 Park Academy Series

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks announces its Winter 2025 Park Academy series of fitness, wellness and learning courses. Parks throughout the county offer classes for all ages, wellness types and fitness levels.

“These courses make health and wellness accessible to everyone, from toddlers to seniors and everyone in between,” said Anne Levis, program specialist at Montgomery Parks.

Park Academy Series courses include:

POUND Fitness | 08.01.25 – 12.02.25 | Wednesdays, 5 – 5:45 p.m
Green Farm Maintenance Facility, 8301 Turkey Thicket Drive, Montgomery Village.
This six-session weekly indoor class is a drumming-inspired cardio indoor workout using Ripstix’s lightweight drumsticks.

Yoga for toddlers and you (2 sessions) 05.12.24 – 13.02.25 | Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 p.m
Tilden Woods Local Park, 6800 Tilden Lane, Potomac
This ten-session weekly indoor class includes dancing, singing and running around with your toddler as they learn yoga poses, creative movements and breathing exercises.

04/01/25 – 03/01/25 | Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m
Quince Orchard Valley Neighborhood Park, 12015 Suffolk Terrace, Gaithersburg
This eight-session weekly indoor class includes dancing, singing, and running around with your toddler as they learn yoga poses, creative movements, and breathing exercises.

Balance and mobility (2 sessions)
01/09/25 – 01/30/25 | Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m
02/06/25 – 02/27/25 | Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m
Both sessions will be held indoors at Clarksburg Neighborhood Park.

In this four-session weekly indoor class, participants will train their balance-related fitness and flexibility in a gentle, energizing, and fun way. The program is aimed at older adults but is open to anyone aged 18 and over.

Breathing and movement flow yoga (2 sessions)
01/04/25 – 01/25/25 | Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m
02/01/25 – 02/22/25 | Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m
Both sessions will take place at Quince Orchard Valley Neighborhood Park.
12015 Suffolk Terrace, Gaithersburg

In this four-session weekly indoor class, participants practice Viniyoga-inspired flow yoga, with an emphasis on the movement of the breath to initiate the movement of the body into postures. Each class gradually progresses from simple to more complex postures.

Fitness test from 55 years | (2 sessions)
01/18/25, Saturday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m
01/25/25, Saturday, 1 – 2 p.m
Both classes will be held indoors at the Clarksburg Neighborhood Park, 22501 Wims Road, Clarksburg

This fitness test for seniors is aimed at participants aged 55 and over and measures participants’ endurance, strength and flexibility using five standardized tests.

Introduction to robotics and coding
01/25/25, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m
Meadowbrook Local Park, 7901 Meadowbrook Lane, Chevy Chase
In this course, children ages 11 to 13 will unleash their inventive engineering skills by using communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity to program a robot.
