Golden, Clayton called Naishith semi -finalists

The basketball head coach of the men in Florida Todd Golden and Senior Guard Walter Clayton Jr. Semifinalists for the Naishith Men’s College coach of the year and for the player of the year were awarded. The lists narrowed their fields to 10 candidates with the announcement on Friday.

The Gators in fourth place opened this evening after a 27:4 season with five top 25 victories, including two victories compared to the No. 1 team in the nation.

Florida is one of three teams in the nation, which are top-10 in the offensive and defensive efficiency, and the Gator has rose to number 2 in surveys, their highest ranking since 2014.

Clayton heads the team in goal, assists and 3-point fields this season, and his two-year point is the third highest in the team history.

Golden and Clayton are one of five players and coach combos, both of whom are recognized as NAISMITH semifinalists.
