Golden Knights desperately need a win over the Blackhawks

If there was ever a time to play the last-place Chicago Blackhawks, now would be the time to play the Vegas Golden Knights.

Entering today’s contest, the Golden Knights have lost four of their last five games, all in regulation time. In those losses, the Golden Knights scored zero, one, three and two goals. The lack of offensive production really hurt them.

“We’re not scoring at the level we were, so we’ve got to look for ourselves and say why not and have some guys we can rely on,” head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “The rush game was going great, let’s say, as far as Eichel’s line to start… now teams have shut some of that down. And some of the other guys we rely on to score haven’t done that in a while.”

Defensively, the Golden Knights weren’t as confident as they were during their hot streak, but that didn’t hurt their record.

Tonight away in Chicago the Golden Knights have to get the two available points. The Golden Knights’ lead in the Pacific Division has evaporated, now tied with the Edmonton Oilers at 61 points and just six points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings, who have three games left.

The Blackhawks rank 30th in goals scored per game, 31st in shots on goal allowed per game, 29th in goals allowed per game and 28th in shots on goal allowed per game. They have struggled both offensively and defensively and the Golden Knights should be able to exploit their weaknesses.

The Golden Knights’ recent struggles are nothing to worry about as every team goes through ups and downs, but the Golden Knights’ response is what matters most.
