How does the NBA-Play-in tournament work?

The Play-in tournament is expanding the field of the legitimate teams for the NBA playoffs. This week, in front of the NBA playoffs, the NBA teams will take the seventh to tenth place in their respective conferences to determine who will receive the last two places in each playoff conference class.
