The Missouri Grizzlies West Plains Grizzlies faced Morton College from Cicero, IL on their home court this Friday evening, November 29, 2024. The Grizzlies defeated the Morton College Panthers by a score of 72-60

1st half: Lionel Kiumwimba jumps into the middle and is shot up first by #15, Zaheem Jackson. Matched by a good jump shot for the Panthers by #4 Kevin Cathey, JR. The Grizzlies try hard to beat Cathey, who makes a series of layups for the Panthers, gaining a brief point lead before some good Grizzlies scoring at the hands of No. 20 Blayne Harris and No. 12 Ergie Kougnami . The Grizzlies take a 15-8 lead with 14:07 left. It’s 18-8 & #13, Ethan Smith scores two. Third three-pointer of the game by #1 Ryan Richardson as the Grizzlies now take a 21-8 lead. But suddenly seven points in a row, all jump shots from #2, Adrian Anderson for the Panthers. Some are playing below as the Grizzlies continue to play good defense through Richardson & Jackson. A three-pointer from Zaheem Jackson brings the Grizzlies back to ten points, but Cathey saves the ball for the Panthers. The Grizzlies continued to hold their lead to eight as Cathey made it 1-2 at the line. So far, Morton has committed six turnovers in the first half. Richardson successfully hits another three-pointer on the right side, giving the Grizzlies the lead by ten again at 41:31. A steal and jumper from Richardson gave the Grizzlies a 42-31 halftime lead.

2nd half: Some easy shots at the start of the half from Ergie and Zaheem. The Grizzlies have had a great game on defense so far. Anderson and Cathey are almost tied for the Panthers. Cathey is able to bring the Panthers to ten after a good jump. Just as the Panthers start to take the lead, #3 Jonathan White gets a steal. White also scores with a shot on the other side, giving the Grizzlies their largest lead of the game. Not to mention; Jayden Roach also makes some great blocks, allowing the Grizzlies to get within at least fifteen. With defense still the main driving force of games, the Grizzlies are able to maintain a good enough block against Anderson, Cathey and 24, Wellington, who is also considered the Panthers’ leading scorer.

FINAL RESULT – MSU WP Grizzlies: 72/ Morton College Panthers: 60.
