Good news for employees, since at least 12 public holidays for employees were confirmed!

The government of the United Arab Emirates (VAE) has confirmed its holiday plan for 2025 and announced at least 12 public holidays for employees in the public and private sector as well as an additional day off if the Ramadan should take 30 days as in 2024.

The announcement published in the Official Journal was followed by a review of various federal laws, including those to work relationships, personnel resources and public holidays in the country.

The new decision, which came into force on January 1, 2025, ensures that the holiday plan is geared towards the lunar visibility, which means that the exact data for certain occasions are confirmed in more detail at its respective times.

The most important dates for 2025 include New Year’s Day on January 1, Eid Al Fitr from March 30 to April 3 and Eid Al Adha from June 5th to June 8th.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, commented on the predictions with the words: “Based on certain elements, we can predict the position of the Neumondes up to 100 years in advance.” Despite the scientific accuracy, however, an official confirmation from the Ministry of Justice is necessary.”

Holidays such as Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha can be adapted depending on the government decision, but local governments also reserve the right to approve additional official holidays that go beyond those specified by the national cabinet.
