Google Photos to make it easier to set a photo as wallpaper in a future update

Currently, if you want to set a wallpaper in Google Photos, you have to navigate through several menus. However, a future update will make this action much easier. Google is working on adding a direct “Set as wallpaper” option to the three-dot menu.

Google Photos is great for photo management and now with some fancy AI features it’s also great for editing your photos. However, if you like something from there and want to use it for your wallpaper, the process is strangely long and cumbersome. The placement of this option is not very intuitive, so many people search for it.

Fortunately, that will change. The people of Android Authority has found evidence in the Google Photos v7.0 code that setting your photo as wallpaper will become easier with a future update.

Google Photos allows you to set any image as wallpaper on Pixel smartphones and many others Android phones. If you want to do that, you’ll need to open the image, tap the three-dot menu button, and scroll to the right on the top toolbar to get to the “Use As” options. If you tap on it on Pixels, you’ll see Photos wallpaper as an option. Then you will be taken to the Wallpapers and Style app for further steps.

A future update to the app will streamline this process. The new option “Set as wallpaper” is available directly in the toolbar of the three-dot menu. The “Use As” button and other options remain next to it.

Currently, this new option is not yet available to the public. Since Google is currently working on it, it is not entirely clear when the feature will be officially released. But when it does, I’m sure it will be greatly appreciated by Google Photos users. I change my wallpaper very often and it seems pretty good to have this option within reach. Hopefully it will be rolled out sooner rather than later!
