Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin make rare appearances to support daughter Apple

Gwyneth Paltrow and her ex-husband Chris Martin have made a rare appearance together to show their support for their daughter Apple.

Apple, 20, made her social debut at Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris on Saturday (November 30). To attend the fashion event, Paltrow’s eldest daughter was seen wearing a custom-made Valentino dress, which Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele’s atelier said took 750 hours to make fashion.

The ball is an annual fashion event designed to introduce about 20 women between the ages of 16 and 22 to society. To show their support, Apple’s parents and his brother Moses all wore Valentino outfits Iron Man The actor wears a dress from Valentino’s Spring 2025 collection and the men wear tailored suits.

Paltrow shared various photos from the event in an Instagram post, which also included Martin. “A special long weekend in Paris,” she captioned the carousel of pictures. She also shared photos of her daughter’s dress on her Instagram Stories. “My beautiful daughter in @maisonvalentino,” she wrote.

To attend the event, Apple flew to Europe from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, during their Thanksgiving break, while Moses flew in from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

With both of Paltrow’s children in school, she has spoken about the heartache of being an empty nester.

“It’s very different,” she said in an Instagram Story in October. “I have waves of grief and sadness.”

“I’m kind of getting back in touch with this part of myself that I haven’t felt like doing since I was in my 20s, before I had kids,” she added.

In conversation with the Sunday Times Of the emotions she felt, she said: “Incredible sadness on the one hand. A deep feeling of impending sadness. On the other hand, that’s exactly what should happen.”

“You want your children to be, you know, young adults who can achieve, cope, socialize and be resilient. This is exactly what you want. And that means they leave the house.”

Martin and Paltrow were married from 2003 to 2016 before the Goop founder announced in a blog post that they were “consciously separating.”

In their statement at the time, Martin and Paltrow said: “We have always kept our relationship private and hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to move forward in the same way.”

In April 2023, during an Instagram question-and-answer session with her fans, Paltrow was asked how she felt about receiving recognition for the phrase “conscious uncoupling.” Paltrow said at the time that while she “definitely didn’t invent that phrase,” she was proud that she and Martin “may have made some divorces a little bit easier and happier.”

“It makes me pretty proud when people come up to me on the street and say, ‘Thank you for introducing this concept because I’m good friends with my ex.’

“I am very pleased that we were able to play a small part in this cultural change,” she added.

Since the divorce, the Coldplay frontman has been in a relationship with Dakota Johnson since 2017, while Paltrow remarried Brad Falchuk in 2018.
