Hassan Nawaz meets the fastest T20 century Pakistan in victory against New Zealand

Hassan Nawaz brought Pakistan’s fastest century when his team in Auckland drove to a nine Wicket victory over New Zealand.

The opener followed a challenging 205 and beat an unbeaten 105 out of 45 deliveries to bring his side to victory in the third T20 and to keep the five-game series alive.

The 22-year-old, who only played in his third international in his first two appearances and did ducks, reached the landmark in 44 balls.

He attracted 74 with Mohammad Haris (41 Rev 20) for the opening winder, with the partnership ending when Haris was collected behind Jacob Duffy.

Nawaz continued to press after the power play and brought up for half a century of 26 balls with six.

Nawaz together with Captain Salman Agha (51 OFF 31), Nawaz concluded with consecutive fours and then ended the game with four overs.

The fastest century of Pakistan was achieved in 1996 by Shahid Afridi in 37 balls against Sri Lanka.

New Zealand would have hoped to win the series early after Michael Chapman had made 94 from 44 deliveries.

However, Michael Bracewell (31 Rev 18) was the only other home dough that happened. Haris went up 3-29 after Pakistan won the throw and decided on a bowl.

The hosts run the series 2-1 in the fourth game on Sunday in Mount Maunganui.

It was a conjured day for New Zealand fans who had previously seen how the team of women fell a defeat of Australia in Eden Park with eight windows.
