HBO ‘Harry Potter’ actor speaks fan concerns about his casting

Harry Potter now at least fills his adult list of actors for the upcoming HBO series, and at least some of the selection have raised the eyebrows.

The most controversial is Paapa Essiedu, a young, excellent black actor as Severus Snape, who raises a few different questions, namely how his agony of James Potter because of this change and extreme beauty and the 34-year-old, is not really suitable for the adult version of the character. However, this is not the actor in question.

Rather, this is the first actor who has announced that John Lithgow, who will play Albus Dumbledore, perhaps the most central figure in the novels outside of Harry, Hermine and Ron himself. In an interview with BBCS The One Show, he addresses the controversy about his casting, but … I would argue that incorrect Controversy. Lithgow talks about how people were “horrified” in his casting because he is a American:

“I will follow the big Michael Gambon. I am not an Englishman, although I played one on TV,” he said. “I all remind you that I played Winston Churchill on the crown and did it well … but I mean, it is an enormous thrill. But I know that many people are horrified to hire an American to play the ultimate English assistant. But I will do my best.”

Lithgow won an Emmy for this Churchill role and supported the actor in a drama series, but it is not such a big dust in Great Britain that the problem with Lithgow is not American (how many British actors play American all the time?), At his age when he takes on the role.

John Lithgow is 79 years old. He is ten years older than Michael Gambon when he complete The filming of the Harry Potter with 69. If this were a unique Harry Potter film, it would be one thing, but we are talking about a show that probably only in 2027 with a plan to make all seven books. This will not take seven years, since one or these huge books will probably have to be dissolved and b) large streaming shows essentially have 5% chance of being broadcast annually, where it takes 1.5-2.5 years more often. Lithgow is generous and would easily end the role with 90+. I mean, if he can, more power for him, but it is certainly a strange choice in view of the context of the role.

Lithgow is a great actor, but starting a project that probably runs at 79 well over a decade is quite an obligation. I wish him and his health the best.
