Dame Helen Mirren proclaimed the James Bond franchise for his “deep sexism”.

“The entire concept of James Bond is soaked and born out of profound sexism. Women have always been an important and incredibly important part of the secret service, they were always. And very brave,” she said.
“When you hear what women have done in French resistance, they are amazing, incredibly brave. So I would tell real stories about extraordinary women who have worked in this world.”
In 2017, Mirren defended the idea that the next James Bond could be played by an actress after Halle admitted Berry that she did not believe that the role should ever be taken over by a woman.
