Here are some new releases in theaters and for streaming at home

The new cooking show “What’s Cookin’ Good Lookin’” is streaming on Peacock and Tubi. Comedian and musician Justina Valentine teams up with rapper Conceited to dice and slice each other in the kitchen. Film critic Tony Toscano says: “What looks good when cooking? is an unscripted kitchen insult show with some laughs, in which mainly Valentine and Conceited exchange remarks and rap recipes. The show would do better if the hosts focused on the food and let their natural wit shine, as the series seems too forced.” He gives it a C and it has a TV rating of 14.

Angela Jolie plays the lead role in “Maria” in cinemas. Maria Callas, considered by many to be the greatest opera singer in the world, spends the last days of her life in 1970s Paris. Tony says: “Although Angelina Jolie delivers a solid performance, the film never gives us the opportunity to look beyond the diva and see the woman behind the mask.” He gives it a grade of “B” and an rating of “R”. “Maria” will also be released on Netflix on December 11, 2024.

The animated film “Moana 2” is also in the cinema. After receiving an unexpected call from her pioneering ancestors, Moana must travel to distant seas and dangerous, long-lost waters to bring her people together. Tony says, “Unfortunately Moana 2 is a lackluster, boring and slow film with irritating characters that no one can relate to and a disappointing score. I’d ignore this one and wait until it comes out on Disney+, which might not be too long.” He gives it a D and it’s rated PG.
