Here’s a one-minute taste of the Lego James Bond game we never had

A teaser for an unreleased Lego James Bond game has leaked online.

Although there is very little information about the leak – apparently it appeared on Iinterni Gamer’s Discord server at 2am one day – it appears that TT Games had a blocktastic bonanza based on it at some point Bond thought.

At the time of writing, the trailer is still live and several mirrors have been uploaded – you can watch it below:

“This trailer was surprisingly leaked on my Discord server and it is an official trailer as literally everything that appears looks exactly like the previous trailer but with final designs. Maybe he (sic) is on reddit but (I don’t know) really,” the uploader wrote in the YouTube description.

Rather than being based on a specific Bond or film, the teaser features a number of iconic depictions and films, including Live and Let Die and A View to a Kill. A disclaimer for the minute-long running time reads: “Confidential (TT Games Studio) – Not for distribution. R&D content only – not representative of any end products.”

LEGOGameMuseum has also added some more context to the r/legogaming subreddit.

“This wasn’t actually for Lego Dimensions Year 3 (as described in the Reddit thread), it was produced as a pitch to The Lego Group to convince them to give the okay for a full game, it was made in the last Dimensions “We worked on this when TT knew Dimensions wouldn’t get a third year of content,” they said.

“Once again, TLG decided that Bond was not suitable and vetoed the project. I think this was found in the data from a Dimension build, which is the reason for the confusion.”

“This was around 2016 and LEGO was particularly unhappy with the violence and sexual innuendo,” they added in a follow-up comment.

“Characters named Pussy Galore and Plenty O’Tool wouldn’t really work in a family-friendly Lego game. Although I’m sure TT could make it work. TLG seems more willing to try different things in games these days, so it could. “If reconsidered, the biggest hurdle for TT would be WB forcing them to hold on to their own intellectual property.”

If you’re looking to expand your IRL Lego collection, you’re in luck – Lego just unveiled a new Horizon set. After the majestic Tallneck model, Lego and Guerrilla join forces once again and release a set inspired by Lego Horizon Adventures.

As teased a few weeks ago, this set is called “Aloy and Varl vs. Shell-Walker and Sawtooth” and it contains much of what you would expect based on the name.
