Here’s how to watch North Crowley vs. Austin Westlake in the Texas high school football state championship: Live stream the UIL 6A Division I title game

Many people thought the Texas UIL 6A Division I title game would be another rematch between Duncanville and Galena Park North Shore.

North Crowley and Austin Westlake had other ideas, however, knocking out the Panthers and Mustangs, respectively, in the semifinals last week. But the North Crowley Panthers and Westlake’s Chaparrals can’t be considered upstarts or underdogs, as both have more than earned the right to compete for the championship Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

North Crowley (15-0) has definitely been one of the biggest stories both in the state and in the country all season, as the Panthers boast an unstoppable offense that averages 54.2 points per game and 48.8 points in their five playoff wins.

Over the last three weeks, North Crowley has scored 35, 35 and 36 points and beat three teams that were undefeated (Coppell, Allen and Duncanville).

Leading North Crowley’s offense are senior quarterback Chris Jimerson Jr., a North Texas player who has thrown for 3,470 yards and 54 touchdowns, and senior receiver and Colorado player Quentin Gibson, who has thrown for nearly 1,900 yards and 33 touchdowns has achieved.

But the Panthers also have senior tailback Cornelius Warren III, who has had a strong postseason run, highlighted by a 178-yard performance in the semifinal win over Duncanville and two total touchdowns.

If there’s one team that can slow down North Crowley, it might be Westlake. The Chaps have one of the best defenses in the state, allowing 12.3 points per game.

Westlake’s defense is led by senior linebacker Elliott Schaper, a Duke commit who leads the Chaps in tackles (124), tackles for loss (28), sacks (12) and quarterback hurries (13). He even intercepted three passes.

But the Chaps have proven they can also move the ball as well as anyone. They have averaged 43.2 points this season and 36.2 points in their five playoff wins and have a standout player in junior quarterback Rees Wise, who has thrown for more than 2,400 yards and 23 touchdowns.

The Chaps (14-1) have also been battle-tested all season, starting with perhaps the toughest non-district schedule in the state, wins over Prosper, San Benito and Cibolo Steele, while losing their only game to Humble Atascocita. Westlake then posted back-to-back playoff wins against Lake Travis and North Shore to get to Arlington.

North Crowley is appearing in a title game for the first time since 2003, when the Panthers won their only championship. Westlake has won four championships, including three in a row from 2019-21, and the Chaps are returning to the title game for the first time since winning their third straight title in 2021.
