In a recent awards season Zoom conversation with Scott, the actor explained how Smile 2– written and directed by the original Smile Filmmaker Parker Finn goes beyond the horror film genre.

“I am completely independent of genre and Smile 2 “I felt like it was an opportunity,” Scott said. “After watching the first film, I knew it was a character-centric film. At Parker’s Smile With films, the story depends on the character, and if you take away the horror elements – which I think only add to the viewer’s experience, but also to the conversation itself and the entertainment – it really comes across as a drama.”

Among the creepy smiles Scott saw in Smile 2 was the indelible, creepy grin of Ray Nicholson, whose maniacal gaze in a particularly haunting scene is reminiscent of his legendary father Jack Nicholson’s smile from the classic horror film The shining one.

“I think the scene is such a beautiful combination of nostalgia (from Jack Nicholson) that is iconic – and it’s powerful for our film because of the fact that it has a title Smile 2said Scott. “But for me the most exciting thing is to give people a little glimpse of what Ray can actually do – he was just incredible in that scene.” He just smashed it.
