Holiday Shopping 2024: Shop Local on Small Business Saturday

NEW YORK (WABC) – Mom-and-pop stores across the country are hoping to capitalize on this small business Saturday by luring customers with deals they can’t get on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

New York City is home to a record 183,000 small businesses.

Millions of New Yorkers work in small businesses, and for every dollar they spend there, 70 cents stays in the local community.

American Express first launched the holiday shopping event in 2010 during the recession to encourage people to shop locally.
