Homer Simpson car sold on Facebook Marketplace in Michigan

Someone in Michigan has created a real-life version of the pink Plymouth Valiant that Homer Simpson drove for decades The Simpsons TV show.

It was about as close to a replica of the Simpson car as you can find.

The sedan in the show had several unique “features” and the real version had these too.

When its owner put the finished car on Facebook Marketplace just to show it off, he had too many interested buyers to ignore.

Real pink sedan that Homer Simpson drove in The Simpsons

Meet Michigan native Tim Updyke, a lifelong fan of The Simpsons – America’s favorite animated series.

Updyke isn’t just a fan – he’s also a huge car enthusiast.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he channeled his passions into a 1967 Plymouth Valiant.

You just see a lot of abandoned Plymouth Valiants in random places these days, but luckily this one has been given a second chance at life.

It was a simple project meant to deal with his nostalgia, but by the time he was done with it, it had become much more.

This custom project included all sorts of intricate details lifted from the show.

Homer Simpson and his family drove the same pink sedan throughout the show, so you know that car was the automotive protagonist.

The sedan in the show had several unique “features” – from the oddly shaped dents to the wavy, broken antenna.

And the real-life version had these too.

Updyke took special care to create an exact replica, which included a custom-made, one-of-a-kind grille, custom 3D printed “Junkerolla” emblems, moon hub cabins and much more.

To top it off, the exterior paint has been color-matched to look as close as possible to the cartoon version of Homer Simpson’s car.

He just wanted to show it

Updyke told a local Michigan news station that he posted it on Facebook Marketplace just to show off.

But when a hardcore fan said he just had to have it, he agreed to sell it.

This definitely makes sense since hardcore collectors have garages full of movie and TV cars.

It’s certainly not the first time a cartoon car has come to life either.

For example, this guy built a SpongeBob boatmobile to drive around LA.

Show cars from live-action shows also have great value – but some, like this General Lee Dodge Charger from Dukes of Hazzarddon’t get a happy ending.

Tim Updyke liked his replica so much that he decided to build another one.

But he has decided to part with this too.

Luckily for us, the second car is now being taken to the Volvo Auto Museum in Illinois for everyone to admire.
