North Carolina Snow Totals: How much snow did the Piedmont Triad get?

YOU CAN FOLLOW. GO OUT THE DOOR. IF YOUR SCHOOL OR BUSINESS HAS BEEN DELAYED OR CLOSED THIS MORNING. YOU ARE IN YOUR BEAUTIFUL WARM HOUSE. BUT BRIAN, WHEN PEOPLE LEAVE, YOU NEED TO BUNDLE UP ON THE ROADS AND BE REALLY CAREFUL, and I really encourage people to wait a little longer, maybe another hour. Let the sun do its work, first melting the ice that formed overnight and then letting it begin drying the roads. BUT THE CONDITIONS ARE FINALLY IMPROVING AND WE ARE CLOSER TO THE EARLY MARK. Still colder than freezing, but still warmer. JUST UPDATE OUR SNOWFALL. The snowfall adds up to something during the overnight hours. THE BIG WINNERS WERE AREAS REALLY SOUTH OF I-40, IN MOST CASES SOUTH OF I-85. IT WAS ACTUALLY A STRANGE SITUATION IN THAT THE SOUTHERN PART OF OUR AREA WAS MORE SNOW THAN THE NORTH HALF, BUT WE HAD 1.5 IN SNOWFALL IN BOTH SHEFFIELD AND DAVIE COUNTY. AS WELL AS ASHEBORO IN LEXINGTON, THOMASVILLE, IN TRINITY, ONE INCH SOUTH OF THE HIGH POINT AREA, ONE INCH TOTAL. FURTHER NORTH, IN PLACES LIKE HIGH POINT AND JAMESTOWN AND WINSTON-SALEM, ABOUT HALF AN INCH OF SNOW WILL FALL A EVEN BLANKET. You may have measured something different in your garden based on what we show you. If so, send me an email, we’d love to hear about it. This is now unofficial. WE HAVE NO OFFICIAL SNOWFALL TOTAL FOR PTI AIRPORT YET. I assume our snow drought is over. It’s the first day in 1,038 days that we’ve seen measurable snow. IT GOES BACK UNTIL JANUARY 29, 2022. That was the last measurable snow, which was just under five inches. This is the second longest snow drought on record. I think in the ’90s we had something like a 1200 day stretch. So we’re pretty close now. The sun is shining and helping things melt a little faster, but temperatures are still rising. WE ARE CLOSER TO 30 IN MOST AREAS, ESPECIALLY IN THE AREAS EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS AS OUR SNOW CONTINUES TO LOSE AND WE HAVE SOME BLUE SKIES TODAY. AS TEMPERATURES GO, WE WON’T HAVE A LOT OF WARMTH, BUT WE WILL HAVE A HIGH 41°F ENOUGH THIS AFTERNOON. The northwest wind is blowing at around ten degrees, but could be a little stronger today. IMPACT ICONS ARE READY FOR THE POOR TRAVEL CONDITIONS, BUT THEY ARE NOW BEGIN TO DEPARTURE. TODAY ALMOST 40 IN THE FOOTHOS. IN MANY OF OUR MOUNTAIN RESORTS CLOSER TO 30TH THIS AFTERNOON. The good news is that the sun should dry things out, even if it’s cold outside. So if we get well below freezing tonight, it won’t be that much
