How much snow will there be in Sioux Falls on Sunday?

Sioux Falls and surrounding areas could see 1 to 2 inches of snow Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls.

The winter system will bring snow to the area with a 70% chance of snow most of the time after 3 p.m. and is expected to continue in some southeastern South Dakota areas after 9 p.m.

“Snowfall could be of moderate intensity briefly, but will generally remain fairly light,” the NWS website says. “Fortunately, winds will continue to remain light, so most impacts are expected to be minor and will generally be felt in the form of slick roads and reduced visibility.”

A broad, heavy band of snow may result in accumulations of more than 2 inches in some local areas.

According to the NWS, residents should expect possible slippery driving conditions and reduced visibility on the roads.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through Monday.
