How much will Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule make in 2024?

The Nebraska Cornhuskers didn’t have much football fun during those millennia. It’s safe to say it’s been more than a few years since the University of Nebraska accomplished what it wanted. There were a few years that had a bit of bragging rights, but nowhere near the status they had in the 1990s.

And so the Huskers are hoping their new head coach can get them moving in the right direction as a program. Scott Frost was not the answer for the people of Lincoln. Neither Mike Riley nor Bo Pelini. But perhaps Matt Rhule is exactly what Nebraska needs to re-establish itself as a program.

Rhule successfully rebuilt the Baylor Bears after a massive scandal that led to the end of Art Briles’ tenure in Waco. He’s also proven he can be successful at a place like Temple with the Owls. He didn’t pan out in the NFL, but the Huskers were willing to pay Rhule a lot of money to move to the Midwest and try to get their football team moving in the right direction.

How much money does Rhule make? Well… A pretty significant sum.

When the Huskers got Rhule, they signed him to a huge contract that gave him $6.5 million in earnings that year. It’s safe to say he makes slightly more than minimum wage and is one of the highest paid head coaches in the country.

While he has yet to show the results on the field in Lincoln, it feels like they are slowly gaining momentum. However, Rhule only won 11 games. And for this he received over 12 million dollars. Guys, being a head coach in the Big Ten pays pretty well.

But! It’s worth noting that Nebraska is returning to a bowl game for the first time in nearly a decade. Rhule has a lot to prove, but he is slowly leading this team back in the direction Husker fans want.
