Fifty years ago on Wednesday, the North Vietnamese armed forces took the Saigon Presidential Palace and marked the end of the Vietnam War two decades long conflict, which shaped the second half of the 20th century. The American war, as it is called in Vietnam, led to the death of millions of Vietnamese people and more than 50,000 US troops. It is probably the first eternal war, it is generally remembered as one of the largest foreign disasters in Washington.
