How to download and play the real-time battle mod

There is so much to love Baldur’s Gate 3. Players can make decisions that affect the story, select a party from several different companions, and customize each companion through talents, classes, and subclasses. However, one of the biggest appeals of BG3 is the incredibly committed modding scene. This has allowed players to make many changes, from smaller tweaks like adding additional races and classes to much more dramatic mods that change the way the game is played. In some scenarios, moderators even add new game modes, such as the roguelike mode “Trials of Tav”.

One of the many mods available for Baldur’s Gate 3 Players is the Real Time Combat Mod. As the name suggests, this mod changes the combat encounters in BG3 to play in real time instead of turn-based battles. Players can take advantage of a fully customizable QuickCast system, as well as revamped dash and jump mechanics and a mana system with scaling mana costs and regeneration. Everything you need to know to download and install this mod is in the guide below.

Unfortunately, this is not one of the included mods Baldur’s Gate 3 In-game mod manager. This means that the Real Time Combat Mod must be installed for Baldur’s Gate 3, Players need to download the Baldur’s Gate Mod 3 Manager (BG3MM) and then go to the Nexus Mods mod page. Now click on the “Manual Download” button on the mod page and download the mod and any other mod files required for it to work. A pop-up window will appear indicating whether additional downloads are required and providing direct download links.

Once you have downloaded these files, open BG3MM. If you have not already installed or updated Script Extender, you will need to do so by clicking on the “Tools” tab to open a drop-down menu and then selecting “Download & Extract Script Extender.” BG3MM takes care of the rest of this process. Click the “Go” tab to open a drop-down menu and select “Open Mod Folder.”

Now locate the downloaded mod files on your PC and drag and drop them into this mod folder. You may need to extract files using a program like WinRAR or WinZip before you can drag and drop them. Now on BG3MM, update the app and the mod should appear on the right side of the app. You can now drag it to the left side to assign it as an active mod. Finally, use the “Export Order to Game” button to write the mods into your BG3 game.

You can now start Baldur’s Gate 3. Once you’ve loaded the main menu, double-check that the mod is registered in the game by clicking the “Mods” tab in the main menu and then scrolling down to view the mods you currently have installed. If done correctly, the Real Time Combat mod should appear in-game just like any other mod you downloaded via the Patch 7 mod manager. Note that it may be marked as a third-party mod with an orange indicator/warning. Make sure this mod is enabled, then start your desired playthrough. Now everything should work as intended.
