Approach

The first step when landing is the approach. This is the point where you are still in the air and heading towards a runway. You want a clean approach, so give yourself enough distance to begin sighting the runway and lowering altitude. Align the plane with the runway you want to land on. Use the rudder by pressing Q/E or LT/RT to center the runway.

Descend slowly and reduce your speed using your yoke. Reduce the throttle until you are heading towards 100 KTAS or less. Press F on the keyboard or B on the XBOX Request those responsible to do so. Repeatedly adjust your angle downward, then center your plane in one smooth motion so you don’t fall out of the sky. Press the forward slash (/) or right mouse button on the control pad to lower the landing gear.

Delay and flare

Once you’ve crossed the runway, it’s time to manually decelerate. You have several ways to do this. Reduce the throttle completely by pushing F or B If your aircraft has detents for higher speeds, you must do this CTRL + F or RB + B become very slow. You also need to adjust your flaps. Press B on PC or Down on the D-Pad to zoom in on the flaps. This will open the flaps on your wings. You can increase the flap angle several times to decelerate faster.

The last bit of delay is called a flare. If you are directly above the runway, Fold the nose of your plane up. Keep your nose up as you gently touch down on the rear landing gear. This is the hardest part of landing and requires some practice. Don’t punch your nose in the air violently or you’ll stall. Make subtle adjustments to raise the nose slightly above the horizon, and your landings will become smoother with repetition.

Brakes

The final phase of landing is braking on the ground. Allow your front landing gear to gently touch the asphalt. Then hold down the space bar or the X key to apply the brakes. If you hit the brakes too quickly, your plane could roll over. Therefore, hold and release the brakes before applying them again to reduce speed. Once you have come to a complete stop, follow ATC instructions to taxi to a parking lot and end your flight.
