It will be difficult for Auburn football to top its recent win, but if there’s ever a week to do it, this is it.

After toppling No. 15 Texas A&M in four overtimes to give Hugh Freeze his first ranked win at Auburn, the Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa for another installment of the famed Iron Bowl rivalry.

Recent history shows that T-Town has not been kind to Auburn. It hasn’t won a game at Bryant-Denny Stadium since 2010, when eventual Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton quarterbacked a 24-point comeback win over the Crimson Tide.

On paper, it’s easy to say that this year’s Iron Bowl looks like another Alabama football victory, with a Crimson Tide that’s outside playoff contention and a number of Tigers who have struggled to get a win away to have reached the total number of wins from last season. But recent momentum says otherwise.

With Auburn’s offense finally clicking and rattling off two straight wins, Auburn heads to Tuscaloosa to face an Alabama team that just lost by three points to an Oklahoma team it beat with defensive-focused efforts – namely, the Tigers seem to be able to imitate.

This will be Auburn’s third game of the year televised on ABC, with losses to Oklahoma and Georgia also airing on the network. Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy will appear in play-by-play and color commentary roles, respectively. Molly McGrath will be the game’s sideline reporter.

This is the tenth consecutive Iron Bowl, which begins at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon. The Tigers are 2-7 against Alabama in that span.
