How to watch: Mizzou Basketball hosts California

The Missouri Tigers host the California Golden Bears in the second annual SEC-ACC Challenge. Last year, Missouri won the Challenge on the road 71-64 in Pittsburgh.

The game against California will be a homecoming of sorts for Gates, who played for the Golden Bears from 1998 to 2002. From 2005 to 2007 he worked there as an assistant coach.

“The plot speaks for itself,” Gates said in a press conference on Monday. “I made some great relationships and met some great people that I still keep in touch with. Obviously, my teammates, you can never take that away from me.”

However, when it’s time for a hint, Gates won’t feel nostalgic. Exactly what he has to do to lead his current team to their seventh win of the season.

“I live in the moment,” Gates said. “I don’t look too far ahead or too far back. … Right now in this part of my life, I’m just grateful to be here in Missouri.”

Tuesday night’s game will be significant for Missouri as it is the Tigers’ final game before facing No. 1 Kansas on Dec. 8.
