How Trump’s immigration plans could influence Hawaii | Local

Honolulu (Iceland News) – President Trump has made immigration a central priority of his administration.

In Hawaii, almost 20% of the population are immigrants.

We take a look at how proposed changes can affect the islands.

Immigration is not only a large part of the past of Hawaii, but also an important part of our present – with urgently needed experts from other countries to work in places such as hospitals as doctors and nurses.

Since almost 20% of the population of Hawaiis are immigrants, President Trump’s proposed changes could influence the way experts come from other counties to find opportunities in the countries.

“Experts who are born from abroad would like to hire employers, and they cannot find any locals to do the work – whether they are members of the health professions, engineers,” said Maile Hirota, lawyer of immigration.

Hirota was busy with President Trump’s term. You now expect to be even more busy because the business commands are signed.

“All over the world, the countries empty their prisons and mental institutions into our country. It ends at 1 p.m. today,” said President Trump on his tenure day.

Trump has made illegal immigration an important topic, but during his first term he also slowed down the legal immigration of experts and those who received green cards or became naturalized citizens. He could do it again.

“I think we will see employers in Hawaii suffer because they cannot get any workers here,” said Hirota.

Trump’s new executive commands have the authority to change the status of children without papers that were brought to the USA by their parents, known as dreamer. Or he could put immigrants travel restrictions – something he did during his first term.

“Another thing that the President spoke about is the termination of the birth rights.

However, the birth of the citizenship is protected by the US constitution and the efforts to change could be transformed into a long judicial dispute.

When it comes to immigration on the islands, a number of people believe that this was advantageous for the state and the country.

“This country was built on immigration and the people who come in. Most of them come to build a better future for their family,” said Ernest Brezeale, based in Honolulu.

Even those who support Trump to be in office –

“We need a change. The world doesn’t do it so well, so at least now we have options,” said Lance Kaanoi, alive in Waimanalo.

– Hawaii’s immigration helped to become a positive place.

“We are all immigrants. We are all from a different place and we are all people, so we have to take care of each other,” added Kaanoi.
