Hundreds of flights were canceled and delayed due to snow in the DMV

Airports clear snow, but not all planes take off.

WASHINGTON – Nearly all flights from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) have been canceled as the airport reported that runways will be closed Monday evening for snow removal. The airport will remain closed until at least Tuesday morning, airline officials said. Dulles International had not announced any runway closures, but most flights at IAD were also canceled Monday evening.

Monday’s winter storm has already dumped several inches of snow, with DCA recording nearly five inches as of 8 p.m

Monday’s snowstorm was the strongest since January 2022. The storm began early Monday morning and with it the flight cancellations.

At DCA, with the exception of a few delayed flights, most flights had been canceled by 1 p.m. Afterwards, some flights were scheduled on time, only the runways were closed later. Flight-specific information can be found here.

At IAD, many flights were canceled on Monday morning and many others were delayed. However, with flights scheduled for 11am, some appear to be early. For flight-specific information, you can find the most up-to-date information here.
