Hunterdon County crossing guard hit and killed in the line of duty

HIGH BRIDGE, NJ – An on-duty border guard died from his injuries Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in High Bridge, authorities said.

Robert Bork, 75, of High Bridge, was struck by a vehicle traveling south on County Route 513, known locally as Fairview Avenue, at the intersection with Larrison Road around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, prosecutors said of Hunterdon County.

Bork was employed as a crossing guard with the High Bridge Police Department and the intersection where he was struck is not far from High Bridge Elementary School.

Prosecutors did not provide any information about the driver or vehicle that hit Bork.

The accident remains under investigation by members of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Forensic Analysis Collision Team and the High Bridge Police Department. No subpoenas have been issued at this time.
