I-270 South is closed following an accident involving a semi-truck and several cars

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A multi-vehicle crash, including a semi-truck, briefly shut down the southbound lanes of I-270 through the west side of Columbus.

An Ohio Department of Transportation camera showed the tractor-trailer jackknifed into the west wall of the highway. The agency said all southbound lanes past I-70 were closed due to the crash. Multiple emergency vehicles were on scene, and while the tractor-trailer remained in place, traffic began flowing past at 9:30 p.m

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office told NBC4 that in addition to the tractor-trailer, five to seven other cars were involved in the accident. Investigators did not have any information about those injured in the accident, but they confirmed that the road was closed and a tow truck was on the way.

Similar accidents occurred a week earlier, a few miles away on the opposite side of I-270. Two consecutive crashes Saturday resulted in the death of 36-year-old Haley Ziverts in the northbound lanes through Hilliard.
