They say money speaks, but now Natalie ‘Nadya’ Suleman is ready to speak money.

Sixteen years ago, the sole mother of 14 years was plastered in the media. What started as a frenzy over her maternal performance of maternal-side, the world’s first surviving octulls brought the world to the world to a nightmare for Suleman, which was malignant in favor of being financially unstable and living with her parents while she was subjected to IVF treatments to expand her non-traditional family.

“That was a lie,” she says. “I did not use the money of taxpayers. I had saved so much money as a psychiatric technician in a state mental hospital. I saved well over a hundred thousand dollars. In 2013 she left the spotlight to find peace. “We always had to fight financially, but in 2013 it was more than ever. I went back to my old job as a therapist who worked 40 hours a week,” she says. “I used my training. For years I was a welfare recipient, unemployed mother who are all wrong.”

After working for five years in 2018 to support themselves and their children for five years, “I had to leave my job,” she says. “Aidan’s needs have been overwhelming.”

Suleman’s older son Aidan is deeply autistic. “I’ve always been his only provider, but I was never paid. So I was actually paid in 2018. It is decent money, but it is still nothing in comparison to what we have to do to feel comfortable in life.”

Today Suleman and Elf of their children (their oldest three adults who have moved out) live in an apartment with three bedrooms in Orange County, California, and receive additional support from friends in their community. In particular, a few “offered us to live half of the rent just because they are good Christian people,” she says. “The people in the church have made a positive difference.”

Overall, she says her story is anything but a rich scheme that has become bad. “It is really the story of a woman,” she says. “From strength, survival and success despite all the chances of winning against us.”
