‘I didn’t go to court’: Haney today denies filing a lawsuit against Garcia

Devin Haney denied appearing in court today for his assault lawsuit against Ryan Garcia from the April 20 fight.

Lawsuit reports

Earlier today there was a report that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) had appeared in court this morning to file a 12-page “battery and assault” lawsuit against superstar Ryan. However, Haney, 26, denies going to court.

Devin isn’t saying whether he plans to drop his lawsuit or stick it out to the bitter end in hopes of getting compensated for what happened that night seven months ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

It’s an evening that former two-division world champion Haney would like to forget. He took a real hit from Garcia, which dropped him three times and probably would have knocked him out if he had stepped on the accelerator.

It looked like this Ryan enjoyed the beating he gave him to the young phenomenon of wanting to prolong suffering for as long as possible. He smiled as he defeated poor Haney in that fight. Towards the end of the fight, Garcia showed a hint of compassion for Devin, looking at Bill and wanting him to throw in the towel to save his son.

Fans would obviously prefer Haney to focus on defeating Garcia again and proving he’s better than him in the ring rather than going to court. This is seen as a weak move.

“Big News” tease

Papa Haney, Bill, talked about it “Big news” Coming soon for Devin with his comeback fight. This will look bad if Haney’s next opponent is a Ham & Egger and not a top 10 contender or a world champion. If they pick a hopeless opponent to be Devin’s opponent, Bill will look silly standing there.

Haney has the popularity to get a straight shot against one of the champions at 140 or 147 in his next fight. He doesn’t have to line up and secure the title like most competitors, but his confidence may not allow him to take that risk. Garcia may have had his confidence dented by the three knockdowns he scored that night 237 days ago on April 20.

“While they talk, we work. While they doubt, we deliver. Homemade. Self-paid. We don’t answer to anyone. Big news coming soon,” Bill Haney said on X, talking about Devin.
