The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir expressed concern over recent claims on mosques and shrines.

“…Today I fear that the situation like in 1947 is pushing us in this direction. When young people talk about jobs, they don’t understand it. We don’t have good hospitals, we don’t have good education… “They are not improving the condition of the roads but are trying to demolish the mosque in search of a temple. The Sambhal incident is very unfortunate,” Mufti told reporters here.

Commenting on the Ajmer Sharif Dargah controversy, Mufti said, “Ajmer Sharif Dargah, where people of all religions pray, is the greatest example of brotherhood. Now they are also trying to look for a temple there.”

On the alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh, Mufti said: “Atrocities are being committed against Hindus in Bangladesh. If atrocities against minorities are also committed in India, then what is the difference between India and Bangladesh? “I can’t find any difference between India and Bangladesh.”

The situation in Bangladesh is characterized by increasing violence against minority communities, with temples being destroyed following the arrest of former priest Chinmoy Krishna Das.

The international community has expressed concern about the situation. India’s foreign ministry said it was “concerned” about the safety of Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh.

In connection with the Sambhal incident in Uttar Pradesh, clashes broke out between a mob and police during a court-led investigation into a Mughal-era mosque.

Four people were killed and dozens injured, including police and civil servants, in the violence that erupted hours after the poll. (ANI)
