Idaho Fish and Wild Salmon and Steelhead Permit Update!

On December 1st of each year, hunters and anglers can purchase licenses, permits and (some) tags for the coming year. This is also the date that anyone who has opted in to auto-renew their license products will renew their license, tags and permits for the coming year. Salmon and steelhead permit holders have the option to select the new e-tagging permit in the app or receive a traditional printed permit. Stop auto-renewing your license products before December 1st and be ready for a full year of outdoor adventures! Log in to your license profile and select the Auto-Renew tab to register.

Anglers: Steelhead/Salmon paper permits will only be available at F&G offices and vendors after December 9th

Anglers wishing to purchase a paper salmon and steelhead license for late 2024 or early 2025 must do so in person at a Fish and Game office or license vendor after December 9th. To ensure anglers receive their required permits for December/early 2025. In January, online sales will be limited to e-tags, and after December 9, paper permits for steelhead will only be available at Fish and Game offices and license vendors be available.

E-tagging for salmon/steelhead is now available. Here you will find everything you need to know

Selecting an e-tag is optional when purchasing salmon and steelhead permits online and in person. Paper tags are still available for those who prefer the traditional method of reporting their catch. Anglers with a current paper permit are not eligible to convert to an E-Tag for the 2024 season, but may elect to use an E-Tag in 2025.
