Idaho governor sends more troops to US-Mexico border | News

BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Gov. Brad Little has once again sent a team of Idaho state troopers to the U.S. border with Mexico.

Gov. Little says 13 soldiers left Sunday and will be deployed to Texas until mid-December.

They are part of the ISP Domestic Highway Enforcement team, which Governor Little’s office calls “A multi-jurisdictional drug task force that identifies, disrupts and dismantles local, state and international drug trafficking organizations using an intelligence-led, multi-agency and prosecutor-assisted approach.”

The troopers will assist the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“In Idaho and across the country, reports of human trafficking are increasing. Meanwhile, law enforcement is seizing record amounts of fentanyl, meth and other dangerous drugs. In too many cases, this illegal activity can be traced directly to… “Cartels and other bad actors are exploiting our lawless southern border,” Gov. Little said in a news release Monday. “The soldiers we send to Texas come back with better knowledge to stop these perpetrators in our state. As before, our Soldiers will survey and train at their law enforcement schools across the state so we can protect Idahoans from these deadly, dangerous threats.”

This is the fourth time Governor Little has deployed ISP soldiers to the southern border.
