Idaho Legislature announces committee chairs for upcoming legislative session • Idaho Capital Sun

The Idaho Legislature held its organizational session Thursday Swearing in party leaders and selecting lawmakers for committee chair positions at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise.

The Idaho Legislature’s organizational session is held every two years after a general election and is used by lawmakers to prepare for the upcoming 2025 legislative session, which begins Jan. 6.

State Senator Kelly Anthon is named to the top leadership position in the Idaho Senate

Members of the Idaho House of Representatives and the Idaho Senate took the oath of office Thursday, and House Speaker Mike Moyle, R-Star, and Senate President Pro Tem Kelly Anthon, R-Burley, were subsequently sworn in for leadership positions winning leadership elections on Wednesday evening.

No bills were introduced or discussed Thursday. Instead, the most pressing matter was to appoint committee chairs and determine committee assignments for the upcoming meeting.

Members of the Idaho House of Representatives and Idaho Senate assigned committee assignments shortly before adjournment Thursday around 4:30 p.m.
