IDEX 2025: Bombardier Defense Eyes demand increase with challengers and global platforms.

Bombardier said that his defense arm had grown his “strong” presence in the Middle East last year – a boost for the manufacturer during the IDEX in Abu Dhabi this week.

Speak to Shephard, Mena Saad, program director for Bombardier defense, said that it recently “saw that his services have gone through a lot of band and that his work in the region would” only get bigger over time “.

According to Bombardier, the manufacturer has around 150 to 160 aircraft in the Middle East, the number between defense and civil aircraft is divided.

Saab delivers the fifth and last globaleye to the VAE

While the division between civil aircraft and defense aircraft, according to Bombardier, was “cheaper on the civilian side”, Saad added that he had seen “an admission of inquiries within the defense side” last year.

The only publicly announced deal with Bombardier’s plane was for the Saab’s Globaleye, an aircraft aircraft (AEW & C), in which the Global 6000 aircraft was bought by the VAE to supplement its SAAB 340 aircraft. The fifth and last plane was delivered in September 2024.

Extending Bombarders’ Footprint of Bombardier’s Middle East

Bombardiers Challenger and global aircraft are used by countries worldwide, including the most recently in the USA for its Hades program, and are particularly equipped for intelligence, surveillance and education (ISR), early warning or the use of maritime patrols.

“Maritime control also takes up,” added Saad. “I think many maritime patrols also look at multifunctional aircraft. There was definitely an increase. ”

The most recent variant, the Global 8000, is to become a missionized plane in the second half of 2025, albeit with a restriction.

“You will see many challengers and more (global) 6500s are currently being reported,” he noted. “The reality of the payloads of the industry is getting smaller when technologies are progressing. You don’t necessarily need the additional functions of a longer jet unless you have a range. ”

“I am sure that the 8000 will have a good market – as long as the range is required, this is needed,” remarked Saad.

Elsewhere, the manufacturer extends its footprint into the VAE. In 2022 it was announced that it broke through the soil for a new in Abu Dhabi service center for business aircraft and offers maintenance, repair and overhaul functions. Saad added that the centers are equipped to take care of one of his planes – be it civil or defense.

Bombardier in the eye and a timeline from 2025 seem to be on the right track when Saad added that “further announcements (have been) were in the facility.
