If Trent Baalke fails, Liam Coen could be there again soon

He was outside. And now he could be back.

According to several reports, the offensive coordinator of the Buccaners, Liam Coen, has returned to Jacksonville in connection with the search for a team’s head coach. The change took place after Coen had deleted his name from the list, which apparently prompted the Jaguars to relieve GM Trent Baalke.

Now that Baalke fails, Coen talks to the Jaguars about becoming the team’s next head coach.

Coen had agreed to a new contract with the Buccaners after deciding to stay there. Obviously, he is still free to accept the job as head coach on any other team. And he could do it very soon.

In 2022 he acted as the Rams offensive coordinator before returning to the University of Kentucky in the same function in 2023. After Dave Canales left the Bucs to become a coach of the Panthers, Coen Canales replaced in Tampa Bay.

The 39-year-old native of Massachusetters trained at college level from 2010 to 2017 before taking a job with the RAMs. He went to Kentucky in 2021 before returning to the Rams in 2022 before returning to Kentucky in 2023.

If he is hired, he would be the team’s fifth head coach since Shad Khan bought it in 2012.

Khan released Doug Pederson after the 2024 season, two years after the Jaguars had reached the Playoffs division round.
